Water Tanks In Sydney and New South Wales
The bad news is Sydney and New South wales in General have some pretty tight water restrictions. The good news is that Sydney's water rebates are some of the best in the country! In fact over 24,000 homes have received rebates.
Sydney Water offers rebates up to $1500 when you install a tank and plumb it in for household use in the toilet, laundry and/ or bathrooms. Click here to go to Sydney Water for more info about rainwater tanks and rebates.
The other good news is that Sydney gets quite a lot or rain throughout the year compared to other places. Regular rain is great when you have a rainwater tank because it means your water tank gets filled up often and there is less chance you will run out of rainwater..
To calculate how much water you use and the size of the water tank you need please see our water tank system design guide.
Sydney water recommends a tank size of at least 5000 Litres to make sure you are getting some benefit out of your water tank. If you run out too often then you will need mains water and lose and cost savings you have gained.
For 5000 Litres of rainwater storage you will need approximately 12 x 395 litre Supertank modules.
If you want to make a real impact you can build a shed or carport using Supertanks. A 6m x6m carport/ garage uses about 30 Supertanks and will hold about 12,000 litres which is enough to keep you going most of the year, if not all year without using any mains water!
