New Superhead First Flush Filter and Rain Head
The green revolution has brought about a range of new and innovative devices for rain water tanks. The latest is a remarkably simple yet effective device known as the ‘Superhead’ from Superwall Systems which combines a rain head, first- flush filter, insect screen and leaf screen into one compact unit. Until now you needed to buy a several products to achieve the same result which would cost a lot more and could look unsightly.
A first- flush diverter is a device that will discard the first rain collected in a rain collection system. Over time pollution and dirt will build up on the roof and in the gutters. Most of this gets washed of when it first starts to rain. By discarding this water it can significantly improve the quality of the water collected and stored in rainwater tanks. If a first flush diverter is not used then the dirt and pollution can cause damage to pumps and washing machines and block sprinklers showerheads and other devices using rainwater. The Australian Standards recommend that every tank is fitted with a first- flush diverter and to discard a minimum of 20 litres per 100m² of roof collection area
The Superhead was designed by two West Australian Architects who have decided to focus their attention on manufacturing water tanks and accessories. “The Superhead is a result of wanting to provide customers with a complete rain collection system that also looks good. Being green shouldn’t mean you need to sacrifice style. People go to a lot of trouble to make their backyard look good so it make sense to have some tanks and accessories that can fit in with their design” explained David Cann, Co- Designer and General Manager of the Company.
The Superhead costs around $49 and is available through Bunnings
